O Desejo pelo Desejo!

"Mãe", diz a menina - "Vou fazer botox! Estou cheia de rugas, olha!

Num tempo em que a Ciência promete a todos conseguir o que se quer simplesmente pelo forte desejo, fico pensando que o desejo ganhou asas sei lá pra onde... Basta desejar e você terá! Mas o que desejar? Quais desejos nos favorecem a Vida ou o momento, a evolução ou o desejo, o enobrecimento ou a falta dele, a ciência esqueceu de mencionar. É o desejo pelo desejo! Quero porque quero! E pode tudo o que você quiser, não é? Sim! É verdade! Pode mesmo! Mas será que estamos prontos para dirigir essa Ferrari que a ciência nos deu? Sabemos mesmo o que queremos? E porque queremos? Um dos reguladores que a ciência estabelece para o sucesso é saber exatamente o que se quer, e dirigir-se a isso. "Se você não sabe onde vai, qualquer caminho serve" (ou qualquer resultado), já dizia o Gato. Ou seria Seneca?

In a time when Science promises everyone they can achieve whatever they want simply by desiring it strongly, I keep wondering where this desire has flown off to… Just desire it, and you'll have it! But what should we desire? Which desires benefit life or the moment, evolution or mere longing, enrichment or its absence—Science forgot to mention. It’s desire for the sake of desire! I want it because I want it! And you can have anything you want, right? Yes! It’s true! You really can! But are we ready to drive this Ferrari that science has handed us? Do we truly know what we want? And why we want it?

One of the key factors Science sets for success is knowing exactly what you want and moving towards it. “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will do” (or any result), as the Cat once said. Or was it Seneca?
